yesterday was so windy and it felt like "Haruichiban".
the first spring storm. i wish it was.

my favorite friend Yuiko brought spring to my heart, as well.
she is an amazing Tango violinist residing in Japan.
it was three spring ago i firstly met her in the airplane to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
from then, it seems like, we have been traveling solely and together all around the world.

"DAY1: America, ski, and encounter"
2007-March-08
I have been wondering around the world spreading from the airport for almost two days.
The transit cities to Buenos Aires: Narita, San Francisco, Washington DC.
Reunion of my second home, US happened way before I had imagined,
and it was pulling my body in two opposite directions as it happened when I came back to Japan from the US last summer.

United States gave me a soul named emotion and body named expression.
and the enormous love around me connected every single piece into one single self.
It is no doubt that Me, without love, is nothing.
I almost felt illusion that i worked in the bright and dry office a few days ago after floating in this magical terminal, which connects time, space, identities, border, language and sun.

It's always like this: the sentiment when you cross the departure gate and the urge to embrace everything on the other side,
yet once stepping across the gate it is all shines to the destination and a pounding heart like a young girl unable to hide their immature love.
I enjoy my simplicity and free-wheeling spirit, as well as suffering from my difficulties to settle.
How long and how far my journey last...wondering like a teenage girl, the airplane was getting darker with its small orange lighting on the sleeping passengers.

In this orange light, I was remembering the ski trip to Nagano with my girl-scout group when elementary school.
It was a gigantic event hall or some empty room in a hotel, we spread our sleeping bags and ourselves on the floor to fill the room. Tickling one other and giggling, we never known how to sleep.
The warm room was covering my tired body after skiing, and the texture of its carpet floor, all of my friends lying together... the ordinary phrase like "we are all brothers and sisters" sounded very right at that moment, i remember...

The dreams of land of America, and the old memory of my ski trip brought me into the grey colored sky of Washington DC after 9 hours.
Finally woke up and talked to the Asian looking lady sitting next to me.

“Do you know the gate number to Buenos Aires?”
My tongue was intertwined after not talking to anyone for 9 hours.
“Gate 5. I’ m going the same way.”
She resounded short, and very precise British accent English.
It was my first encounter to Yuiko.

With her small height, less than 160cm or something, she was carrying two violin cases and a big suitcase. She has clear beautiful eyes through her glasses, a certain shine of skin and smiles which Asians living outside of their home for a long time have.
After finding out that we are heading to the same destination, we got to spend the whole flight to Buenos Aires together.
Yuiko, had started to play violin in her age of three, and moved to UK when i middle school.
After studying classic music for her entire school life, she fell in love with the Argentinean tango violinist   Astor Piazzolla and decided to moved to Buenos Aires to be a tango violinist.

Inspired by her passion and adventurous minds, we shared about stories on our families, on Banana Yoshimoto, on romances, and on our lives as the time allowed.
Eleven hours passed like a moment, after having 5th cups of water, the sky outside of airplane was pure blue of Argentina.
We promised to meet after two weeks later in Buenos Aires, I rushed to Domestic line transit to Cordoba with keeping her contact in my pocket.

This trip will surely become wonderful.
I cannot stop thinking about it.

“Do you know the gate number to Buenos Aires?”
“Gate 5. I’ m going the same way.”

...thank you for such a beautiful friendship story* being just back from Buenos Aires (4 months there!), and violently happy about meeting my dear friends again in France, your story went straight to my heart... Friendship IS everything to me. And brotherhood too, in another un-understandable way. Merci beaucoup!

Thank you Juliette.
4months in Buenos Aires must be amazing! yet i can imagine how hard for anyone to be away from your home. i know that is when you really find your love to your sisters and brothers.
merci for writing a comment!
