Sunday Times Britain's top 200 restaurants 2011

The Sunday Times published its bi-annual guide to the top 200 restaurants
in Britain in its 30th October 2011 edition.
Their list represents the view of the food loving general public
instead of the usual anonymous inspectors in guides such as Michelin or AA.
The list is compiled in association with the Harden’s Guide using 80,000 genuine reports
from diners who had been asked to rate the places they have visited.
The Sunday Times' rankings are based solely on the food the restaurant serves,
though the scores for ambience were used in the event of a tie.

１０月２０日に発行しました。
ミシュランレストラン選考のように覆面審査員が審査するのではなく、
一般のレストラン愛好家の方々の声を反映させた審査が特徴で、
ハーデンズ・ガイドというレストラン・リビューサイトに寄せられた
８０，０００ものレストラン訪問レポをもとに、各レストランの
料理の内容やスタッフのサービス、レストラン全体の雰囲気を対象に評価されたもの。


Statistics from this year’s Sunday Times Food List include:
• Half of the top 100 restaurants are outside London (last year it was only 40%)
• The number of Asian eateries in the List has fallen by half
• There are 31 new entries on the list

I could see all these new restaurants coming into the market in and outside of London,
Yet Asian cuisine trend, which had been around for past several years in London
seems to be screened this year.
However, ROKA, the restaurant I work got 34th on the list (48th last year)
and it is a top score within all Asian restaurants.
As well as Zuma, our sister restaurant got 36th this year (37th last year), stable results.


サンデー・タイムスによる今年のランキングの傾向は：
・トップ１００のうちの半分が、ロンドン郊外である（昨年は４０％のみ）
・日本食、チャイニーズなどをはじめとするアジアン・レストランの数が半分に
・３１もの新しいレストランがランク・イン

ロンドン内外を始めとする多くの新しいレストランの活躍が見られるものの、
数年前からのアジア料理トレンドの淘汰が感じられる結果となりました。
その中で、私の働くROKAは３４位（昨年４８位）と大奮闘。
ランキング内のアジアン・レストランでトップの結果をおさめました。
そして元職場の姉妹店、ZUMAも３６位（昨年３７位）と安定した評価。
