There was a staff party at my workplace, ROKA and ZUMA 3 branches in London!
This event happens every year themed around different topics;
"Cabaret" 2 years ago, "Alice in Wonderland" last year,
and "1950s Hollywood Gram" this year!
From all the employees to the owner of the restaurant dress up beautifully.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of ZUMA, the real(?) Marilyn Monroe
came to sing Happy Birthday!

私の職場、ZUMA＆ROKAロンドン３店舗合同のスタッフ・パーティ！
毎年、その年のテーマに沿って従業員からオーナーまでが
見事にドレスアップする一大イベント、
一昨年は「キャバレー」、昨年は「不思議の国のアリス」、
そして今年は「１９５０年代の魅惑のハリウッド」！
今年はZUMAの１０周年も記念して、本物の(?)マリリンモンローまで
Happy Birthdayを歌いに駆けつけてくれました。
上の写真の左側が、オーナーのレイナーベッカーです。

The venue was at One Mayfair, the refubrished old church from 1825.

会場は、１８５年前の古い教会を改装したOne Mayfair。

Here is a golden lady blowing bubbles,

シャボン玉をふく黄金の女性も登場して、

Everyone had got together.

スタッフも続々勢揃い。

入り口で渡されたラッフルチケットの抽選会もあり、

Many people received big gifts by ruffles,

then the amazing 50s ballroom dance performance,

５０年代の華麗なダンス・パフォーマンスもあり、

The fun night with big family still continued...

I was so glad to see old staff from Zuma where I used to work for 2 and half years,

as well as current staff from Roka Canary Wharf and Charlotte Street branches.

They are my precious friends to spread the seeds of Japanese food and Sake culture in London.

How proud I am to be able to work in this company!

大家族の楽しい夜は更けていきました。

元々ZUMAで２年半過した私は、その頃からのスタッフにも再会でき、

現在のROKA２店舗のスタッフともはしゃげて、会場全員が友達気分。

ロンドンで日本食や日本酒を支える、大切な仲間です。

こんな素敵な会社で働けて、幸せ！

Adieu.

On one coldest morning before Christmas,
my dearest flat mate and friend departed from us in sudden
for an eternal journey.

Us, the left ones spent days by remembering, embracing
and dropping tears because we didn't know how to endure our sadness and regret.
And we still don't know where our emotions are heading to.

クリスマスが来る少し前のある寒い朝、
半年間生活を共にしたフラットメイトである友人が

何も言わないまま、急にひとりで旅に出てしまった。

残された私たちは、このあまりに突然の永遠の別れを、

噛み締めるように、抱きしめるように、
しかし悲しさと悔しさを堪えることもできずに
みんなぽろぽろと涙を流しながら毎日を過しました。
この感情の、行き先を誰も知らない。

My precious friend told me our life is like a book;
In each chapter you will meet and say good-bye to the different characters,
experience big and small events everyday.
I had been believing that the author of this book is undoubtedly myself,
until this separation.
All the sudden my life book was stolen from my hand by some invisible power,
that is how I feel.

大切な友人が、人の一生というのは一冊の本のようなものだと言っていました。
その本の各章で様々な人との出会いや別れ、
自身の転機や日々の出来事が巡る様に綴られていく長い物語。
その本の作者は紛れもなくこの私自身であると信じていたものが、
今回の別れを経験して、急に見えない力にコントロールされてしまったような、
自分という物語が手元から離れてしまったような、
そんな無気力に襲われています。

However, we still have to fill in the blank page of your own book
by painting page by page in beautiful colors,
and embossing the memories of people who you meet on each chapters.
We have to keep something we never change no matter how far we go in our book.
That's all I can say from her departure.

それでも私たちは、自分に残された本の空白を埋めなければいけない。
一ページ一ページを鮮やかに彩り、
そこで出逢う人との時間を大切に刻まなければいけない。
どの章に進んでも、変わらない何かを守らなければ行けない。
意味を見いだせない彼女との別れから言えることは、それだけです。

All the time I spent together with you in this house
brought me so much warmth in the cold and dark London weather.
We will maintain the house with good smell of food and endless laughter.
I love you, forever.

あなたと一緒に過した半年の時間は、

沢山の温もりをもたらしてくれました。

前職の同期のミニーの、素敵な素敵な結婚式。

The room was filled with loves that has been supporting and watching over their growth.

彼等の成長を見守り、支えてきた沢山の愛で会場はいっぱい。

Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011)

When I was only 3 or 4 years old, my father brought home

a big, square and grey Macintosh II.

It looks so ugly and unbelievably big comparing the one today.

At first I had no clue about this ugly box but It soon became my life-time friend.

私がまだ３〜４歳のころ、父が大きくて灰色の四角い

マッキントッシュⅡを買ってきた。

今から比べると信じられない大きさで、不格好。

幼い私には最初その箱が何か理解できなかったけれど、

あっという間にそれは私の生涯の友人になった。

the world of Internet that spreads unlimitedly,

"Kidpics" software that was created for kids to draw in the computer,

after my nursery and elementary school, I was on my dad's Mac all the time.

I made so many friends from all over the world by chatting online in my middle and high school,

and MacBook Pro, my first computer purchased 

kept music, videos, photos of all my memories in my collage time in the US.

Now it is MacBook Air, I bought to be able to update my blog whenever I am.

It is always with me.

その中に広がるインターネットという未知に近い世界、

子供向けに作られたお絵描き用ソフト「キッドピクス」、

保育園や小学校から帰宅した後、ワープロで仕事をする母親の横で

かぶりつくようにマックに向き合っていたことを思い出します。

中学校、高校では海外にすむ友人とチャットやメール。

アメリカの大学へ進学してMacBook Proを初めて買った。

ダウンロードした音楽、映画、思い出の写真。

１年かけて制作したドキュメンタリー映画。

私の青春の全てが詰まっているコンピューターだった。

ブログを始めてからどこでも更新できるようにと切り替えた

MacBook Airは、今もそっと、私の側にいる。

The big love and amazing inspiration transformed into his work named Apple,

and it has been, and still will be, the best friend of people all over the world.

彼の大きな愛と飛び切りのアイデアは、アップルという作品に形を変えて、

こうやって世界中の沢山の人の親友になっている。

これまでも、これからも。

it was once a catch copy of Apple computer,

and what Jobs told us thought his way of life.

「Think Different」（日本訳では「クレイジーな人たちがいる」）
はアップルコンピューターの有名なキャッチコピーですが、
彼が人生をかけて教えてくれたものは、その言葉通りと思います。

Now all of us know the meaning of the new "iPhone 4S",

which was released the day he passed away.

it was an "iPhone For Steve".

RIP Steve Jobs.

彼の亡くなった日に発表された「iPhone４S」。

５ではなく、４Sである意味が今ようやくわかりました。

「スティーブに捧げるiPhone（iPhone for Steve）」。

ステーブジョブスさん、安らかにお眠りください。

From now on, it is "after" the event edition.

We went to Soseki restaurant, locates on the bottom of cocoon-shaped Gherkin building,

for memorial, Issho Shochu (with Mr. Komaki's hand) and Gherkin building.

ここからは二日のロンドンでのイベントの打ち上げ編です。

コクーンの様な形をしたガーキンビルディングの下にある、

「Soseki」というレストランにお邪魔しました。

記念に、ということで一尚（を掲げる小牧氏の手）とガーキンビル。

Mr. Hisanori Komaki of Komaki Jozo from Kagoshima started taking photos of everyone.

Though he touched DSLR camera for the first time,

he captured amazing photos of everyone.

ここから、鹿児島県小牧醸造の小牧尚徳（ひさのり）専務のフォト作品です。

初めて一眼レフを触ったそうなのですが、すっごく上手！

みなさんの素敵な表情を撮ってくださいました。

President Koichi Hasegawa of Hasegawa Saketen. 

Since he has been running daily since beginning of this year,

He is much smaller now than when I first met him 4 years ago,

and you know what, he will be running at Honolulu Marathon next year.

With drinking a tons of Sake, please stay healthy and young!
I am looking forward to your next visit to London.

はせがわ酒店、長谷川浩一社長。

日常走っているそうで、最初にお会いした頃から比べて凄く小さくなられました。

来年のホノルルマラソンにも出場するそうで、

His Sake is poetic, calm and elegant as its name shows,

and everyone at the events in London loved it.

広島県雨後の月の相原準一郎社長と大学生の息子さん。

雨後の月のお酒は名前通り、凄く詩的で、優しくて、エレガントで、

今回の試飲の際はいつも大人気でした。
シャイな息子さん、お父様の様に一生懸命日本酒を売って下さいね！

Mr. Takaaki Yotsuya of Yotsuya Shuzo in Ooita prefecture.

He introduced me the the production tips and birth stories of Kanehachi Shochu
 that is one of the most popular barley Shochu today.
I've been feeling much closet to Shochu than ever before,
and how sweet barley flavors it tasted...

大分県四ッ谷酒造の四ッ谷岳昭専務。

四ッ谷さんから今回麦焼酎で有名な「兼八」の誕生秘話や

焼酎造りの醍醐味などを聞いて、焼酎がもっともっと身近になりました。

あんなに麦の甘さを感じる麦焼酎は初めて…。

Master Sake brewer and Director Mr. Tadatsugu Inoue of Mii no Kotobuki in Fukuoka.

"Yamahai" has been becaming a keyword for British customers

who was impressed with its Hojobiden at my restaurant.

While ago, it was all about "Ginjo" and "Niigata Sake" for European audiences

yet I personally believe that it will be an age of "Yamahai" & "Kimoto" soon.

Thank you for the Ramen from Japan! It made me so happy...

福岡県三井の寿の井上宰継（ただつぐ）専務兼杜氏。

当店で豊醸美田に感激されたイギリス人のお客様内で、

「Yamahai」がキーワードになりつつあります。

一昔前は「Ginjo」や「Niigata Sake」ばかりもてはやされていた欧米での日本酒ですが、

個人的にこれからは山廃＆生酛の時代と思っています。

お土産のラーメン嬉しすぎました！大切に頂きます。

Yonetsuru makes very simple Sake that talks the straight-forward message to a drinker,

Yet they are different from anything else.

Sake like Yonetsuru sells well in foreign countries.

なんて素敵な笑顔なんでしょう。

米鶴さんは、個性はしっかりあるにも関わらず

とっても明快でメッセージの分かりやすいお酒が多い印象。

こんなお酒が、海外ではウケます。

Ms. Iida, Dassai European Sales Repsentitive of Asahi Shuzo, Yamaguchi. 

Calm and feminine Mr. Sakurai (sorry I don't have your photo!), 

and very elegant, yet frank and boyish Ms. Iida. 

this great pair supports the European market of Dassai Sake.

山口県旭酒造、獺祭の欧州営業担当、パリご在住の飯田さん。

穏やかでフェミニンな桜井常務（写真が無くてすみません！）と、

エレガントなのにさばさばしていて格好いい飯田さん。

この二人組で、獺祭の欧州市場は守られています。

来週パリで会いましょう！

Asami san of World Sake Import.
She is one of the important figures to support Sake market in UK.
With her length of time in UK, and the amount of her experiences on Sake,
I respect her like a nice sister.

この中では唯一のロンドン組。World Sake Import英国支社のあさみさん。
彼女はロンドンの日本酒市場を守ってくれている大切な人物です。
私よりずっとロンドン滞在や日本酒関連の仕事が長く、
いつも何でも教えてくださる優しいお姉さんの様な存在です。

お店の天井にずらっと並べられた魚辺の漢字。
皆で必死に読みました…
皆様、「魚」辺に「花」は、ほっけでした！

（クラゲかなと色々想像を膨らませたのですが）

Afterwards, the left 5 of us went to a bar at Langham Hotel.

三次会は、残った５人でLangham Hotelのバーへ。

Mr. Komazawa san who is not on the photo unfortunately.

Not only this event but also the whole market that Hasegawa Saketen has in Europe

does not exist without him.

When I first knocked the door of Sake world,

he was a bar manager at Hasegawa Saketen GrandSta branch.

I am very happy that we got to work together again in London.

写真に映ってませんがはせがわ酒店の駒沢さん。今回のイベントだけでなく

はせがわ酒店の海外展開は、彼の力無くしては成り立ちません。

私が初めて日本酒の扉を叩いたとき、

はせがわ酒店のグランスタ店で彼はバーマネジャーをされていました。

こんな形でロンドンにてまた関わる事ができて、とっても嬉しいです。

Meeting with Kuramotos from all around Japan feels very special to me;

it almost like having more fathers and brothers in my family.

As a little daughter of big Sake family, 

I will introduce all the Sake & Shochu of you all here in London!
